Noragami's power system is built around divine authority, shinki weapons, and Regalia bonds. Gods' power scales with followers and worship โ€” a forgotten god weakens and eventually ceases to exist.

Shinki โ€” The Divine Weapon System

Shinki are human souls taken before they pass on, given a name by a god, and transformed into divine weapons. The naming creates an unbreakable bond โ€” the god feels the shinki's emotions and impurity, and extreme shinki pollution manifests as physical blight on the god.

Blessed Regalia

A shinki who survives a severe Ayakashi possession attempt without corrupting becomes a Blessed Regalia โ€” a significantly more powerful form. Yukine achieves this. Blessed Regalia can purify other shinki and perform techniques beyond normal weapons.

God Power Scaling

Gods' power is directly tied to human faith โ€” the more worshippers and shrines they have, the stronger they become. Yato's poverty (one shrine, handful of followers) keeps him deliberately weak compared to his calamity-god potential.
