Berserk Power System Explained (2026)
The complete Berserk power system explained.
Berserk's power system is built on causality โ the Godhand manipulates the flow of fate itself. Below them, power scales through apostle transformation (humans sacrificing their humanity to become demons) and exceptional human warriors like Guts.
The Godhand โ Causal Manipulators
The five Godhand are transcendent beings who exist between the physical and astral planes. They manipulate causality itself โ bending the flow of events toward their desired outcomes. Void, Slan, Ubik, Conrad, and Femto (Griffith) are functionally omnipotent within the world's causal structure.
Apostles
Apostles are humans who have sacrificed everything most precious to them (usually their loved ones) to the Godhand in exchange for demonic transformation. They gain superhuman strength, size, and a monstrous true form. Most apostles are nearly impossible for normal humans to kill.
The Dragon Slayer
Guts's sword is so massive and has killed so many supernatural beings that it has absorbed residual evil โ becoming a spiritual blade that can harm beings that normal steel cannot touch. Over time it becomes the equal of magical weapons specifically because of the violence done with it.
The Berserker Armor
An artifact that forces the body past its physical limits by blocking pain signals. The armor keeps Guts fighting even with broken bones and torn muscles โ but the cost is irreversible physical damage accumulating with each use. The armor's spirit is the Black Beast โ a savage entity that threatens to consume Guts's humanity.
